Words to Live By

Today is a treasure given to me in the same quantity of seconds,
minutes, and hours that are given to other men.

I am determined
not to waste time in worrying about what might happen,
but to invest my time in making things happen.

I will not think
of what could be done if I were different.
I'm not different. I will do with what I have.

I will not say, "If I could find the time...."
because I will not find time for anything.
If I want time, I'll have to make it.

I will begin by doing
and not wasting the precious time I have.

I will seek to improve myself
because I will be needed and
I must not be found wanting.

Doing the necessary, avoiding the unnecessary, I will
live today fully -- as though it were my last day on earth.
Don't expect to find me waiting for tomorrow --
It never comes.

The theif won't attact your character

Or belittle your abilities to your face!
It likely will be a well-meaning friend
Who merely crushes your will to win.
No, he

doesn't rob you, at point of gun,
He simply says, "It can't be done."
When pointed to thousands who already are
He smiles and says,

"They're superiour!
Personality-wise, and abilities, too.
They're way ahead of what others can do!"
It matters not that his words are

untrue
For, you feel "others" must know you!
So, you're robbed of your hopes, your
dreams to succeed.
Robbed of the material

blessings received,
Robbed of your faith that says, "I can,"
And robbed by an ignorant, gunless friend.
So, the deadliest of men in not

But the one who tells you "It can't be done!"
For that taken by burglars can be gotten again.
But, what can replace your

will to win?
